How to write SEO friendly content

If you’ve been thinking that you can just write posts and wait for them to go viral, then believe you me, that is a complete waste of your time.

Step4: people ask

If you have been observant with your Google search results, if you search on Google with your specific keyword, you’ll see a section displayed on search results known as “people also ask”.

You can use these questions to provide answers on your article.

Note: if you click on a single question, Google is bound to add more questions. So get to answer as much of these questions to increase your chances of ranking on Google’s first page.

This is a smart move to ensure that your SEO friendly content answers most questions that users are searching for on Google.

With that known, it’s time for you to learn the art of writing, and optimization of your content for SEO.

Post title and meta title

I know you might be wondering what could be the difference between the two. Let’s tell the difference first.

post title

Post title: this is how the title of your post is displayed on your website.

Meta title: this is how your post appears on search engine results.

If you have no specified Meta title on your post, your post title will automatically act as the Meta title.

Be sure to include your focus keywords on your Meta title.

Meta description

As far as SEO plugins are concerned, they all offer an option to add a Meta description on your post.

meta description

The Meta description is like an overview of your post. So in around 150 words, be sure to create a captivating description that is worth clicking.

Image alt attribute

If you didn’t know, Google is unable to read images. So an image alt text is the only way Google can be able to recognize an image.

Avoid uploading images that haven’t been properly named. Doing so is a huge mistake.

Make sure the name of the image and the alt text is relevant to the image itself to be on a safer side. Moreover, be sure to add your keywords on your image alt attribute.

Internal linking and the anchor text

By now you must have realized that it’s proper to link to your old post to reduce bounce rate, to improve navigability, and also to enable Google to re-crawl your older posts.

I’d recommend using LinkWhispers for your internal linking.

Heading tags(H1, H2, etc)

Using heading tags in an important aspect of writing SEO friendly content and also an important part of SEO copywriting.

On WordPress, the post title is always H1 by default so you can add H2, H3 as you continue. Also don’t forget to add your focus keyword on at least one of your heading tags.

In WordPress, the post title is usually taken to be the permalink and at times the post title is too long. Be sure to edit your permalink to remove stop words and also avoid making it wordy.

permalink

These stop words are usually ignored by search engines so it’ll be best to remove them from the permalink.
